Acknowledging Choy Gar

Known for its swift footwork and rapid strikes. Lower body strength is the foundation for Choy.

Chan Heung learned Choy Gar from Choy Fook. Initially Choy Fook accepted him as a student to study Buddhism and only later taught him martial arts. He completed his training in 1834 and returned to his village.

Acknowledging Li Gar

Li Gar is Li family kung fu and includes athleticism from the Northern styles.

Acknowledging Fut Gar

"Fut Gar" translates to "Buddha Family". It is a blend of various Southern Shaolin styles.

Meet Chan Heung, the Founder of the Choy Li Fut System

Chan Heung (1803-1875) was the founder of the Choy Li Fut system. He was also known a Din Ying.

He started learning Fut Gar at age 7 from his uncle, a boxer from the Shaolin Temple.
